Food Access at Argus Farm Stop
Mission & Vision
Our team is committed to bridging economic restrictions, transportation gaps, and time poverty to ensure all members of our community have equitable access to fresh, local food. We know that the more consumers participating in our local food economy, the more our small farms and producers can thrive and grow. We understand this as a future that benefits everyone, consumers and farmers.

Our Mission
We partner with local nonprofits to share fresh produce to those in need. Beginning in the fall of 2024, the food access team donates ten AFS Produce Boxes ($300 worth of produce!) to Jewish Family Services (JFS) weekly. JFS is a local organization focused on supporting newly immigrated refugee families and other Washtenaw County residents who are in need. JFS distributes the fresh produce to families through their food pantry, or uses it in their kitchen to create meals for their meal delivery program.
We supplement programs designed to support Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) users. SNAP is a government funded food assistance program.
Argus Farm Stop provides 50% all fresh fruits and vegetables to SNAP users through a program called Double Up Food Bucks. There is a limit on how much money AFS will be reimbursed by the government for this program. Instead of limiting what a customer can buy at a reduced rate, the food access team is able to make up the difference with our funds.
Argus Farm Stop also provides Weekly Produce Boxes at a reduced rate for SNAP users.
We maintain a partnership with Food Gatherers to donate local fruits and vegetables to those in need.
